12 ways to prepare yourself to rid your life of clutter

How we prepare ourselves to rid our life clutter, is not as difficult as it sounds, and it super important for our success.

Let’s face it life is too short to be looking for STUFF, have you ever heard someone say from their death bed

“I wish I went to the IKEA sales”

it’s more likely to hear

“I wish I spent more time with my kids, family and friends”

“I wish I did that trip that I always wanted to do”

  1. Experience real life fun

When was the last time you had a full-on belly laugh, laughed until you cried or wet yourself? I love laughing at myself when I have done something silly an always enjoy the art of people watching. Warm up your inside with laughter and take a moment to feel the difference.

    2. Move out of your comfort zone

I am challenging you to move outside your comfort zone and embrace new ideas, thoughts, habits and practises, you may find discomfort in people watching or really push yourself to go to a department store and leave empty handed!!!

  1. Meditate

Slowing our minds to let mental clutter flow over, around or leave us creates space for real fun and awakens us to the power of living in the moment. Mediation does not mean sitting in the lotus position and wondering if your knees will work again, mediation can be experience through silent walking, listening to the trees, birds and the breeze or sitting in your comfort chair looking out into nature.

  1. Visualise

Visualising life beyond clutter starts with a vision of how you want to live, creating a vision board, journal with pictures and words to describe how your home, office or life will look and feel once the clutter is removed, is a powerful way to prepare yourself for a clutter free life.

  1. Be kind to yourself

Stop beating yourself up and be kind to yourself, how can you move forward until you accept your current situation. If you home looks like a bomb has hit it, who cares, you have just decided to rethink clutter and look at life beyond it. This calls for a celebration and reward, such as enjoying a walk to your favourite park or visiting your local café and watch the world go by.

  1. Move your body

You cannot lose weight sitting on the lounge eating a packet of M&M’s, likewise you cannot declutter if you don’t move your body. If your home requires a big sort, organise and declutter, I recommend you start with a little exercise, let’s make sure you are fit for work! Please do not lift something you are unsure of, the last thing you want is to injure yourself when you are ready to get organised for the rest of your life.

  1. Good nutrition

Part of looking after yourself is good nutrition, what you put into your body is what you get out. Fueling our bodies with the right food drives us so grab and apple and off you go.

  1. Drink water

Drinking pure water helps flush our bodies of toxins, it’s just like decluttering, time to flush out stuff that stops you from living the life you want, just don’t forget your reusable bottle.

  1. Repurpose before consuming

Buying stuff that we don’t need adds clutter to our homes and lives, on the other hand when we repurpose what we have we reduce our carbon footprint and frees up money to put toward things we really want, like going on that retreat you have always dreamed about.   1. Quiet space

There is nothing like pockets of quiet spaces in our day, to clear your mind and allow you to focus on your task, day, activity or just dream. So why not take a quiet break and do nothing!

  1. Sleep

The importance of sleep is well documented for our health and well-being, my tip is declutter your bedroom first. When you go to sleep in clutter and wake up in clutter, where is the relief from clutter?
