Too often we don’t live our dreams, lives filled with clutter for reasons vary from lack of time, money, energy or we are scared to step outside our comfort zone; and worry what others might think or say. On my recent trip to Europe I fulfilled so many of my life’s visions, and in some instances, I stepped well and truly outside my comfort zone. The pleasure for me was removing doubt, fear and anxiety each and every time I conquered things, that in the past had stopped me from living my dreams.
Our clutter is not always physical stuff
We have a knack of building walls around us to keep out the scary stuff, holding in the self-doubt, self-loathing and sadly we are missing out of some the really good stuff.
While traveling through the UK, France and Switzerland it was a joy to witness so many people living their dreams. There was one in particular occasion that touch my heart, it was on the day I visited the Eiffel Tower. It was a bitterly cold January day, I was rugged up in thermals, jacket, hat, gloves and scarf to keep out the biting wind. There was a young woman dressed for warmer conditions; a black tulle whimsical skirt, black and white horizontal striped stretch top and ballet slippers.
She certainly drew attention and snickers of others visiting the tower, but what crossed my mind was, she envisaged herself sipping Champaign at the Eiffel Tower dressed in her dream outfit, but I take my hat off to her for doing it, snickers and all, she was living her dream.
Block out the dream takers
How often do you switch off the critics, social media, TV, drop the magazines and pay attention to your dreams and desires?
What is the worse thing that can happen if you let go of “stuff” that limits you from living the life you want?
Do you want to get to the end of your life and realise you have lived someone else’s dream?
What is wrong with your own thoughts, dreams and wishes?
I relate it back to one my favorite movies Shirley Valentine, a bored housewife who had forgotten who she was, forgotten her dreams, until she said enough was enough; Shirley took a bold step to reclaim the life she wanted.
